Haiti Partners Youth Choir and Dance Troupe
May 15, 2009
Here’s a powerful music video with our Haiti Children’s Choir, a group of 20 children in Mariaman, Haiti. This initiative is coordinated by Merline Engle, who works as a volunteer. The choir is thriving and has more invitations to sing in churches in the greater Port au Prince area than they’re able to respond to. And this choir is about so much more than singing and dancing. The kids have gained self-confidence and are learning to work through conflict and problems in constructive ways. Director, Alex Myril, uses Lectio Divina, a prayerful and participative method of Bible study in their sessions. Alex is part of a 3-year Haiti Partners leadership development program.

Capacity Building Project
May 11, 2009
This photo (above) was taken yesterday morning before we finished our last session. The folks pictured will participate in this 3 year program. We couldn’t be more grateful to Vista Hermosa for providing the grant to make this all possible. Click here to go to a gallery of photos taken the during our first seminar (May 7-10, 2009) of the Capacity Building project. This and other photos by Eric Graham, one of the participants.

Welcome to our site!
May 10, 2009
Thank you for visiting. We welcome you’re suggestion and comments. I’m (John) blogging from Haiti right now. It’s nearly midnight and I’m about to turn in after a very long and wonderfully encouraging first full day of our training. We’re launching our 3-year learning program for 40 key Haitians in our network. They’ll convene three times a year for training in participatory leadership and teaching. They’ll also receive laptops and gain skills in Word, Excel and the internet. We’ve used Google Sites to create a collective website and tonight, using a projector connected to my laptop, we created Google accounts for all participants and showed them how to enter information into the site. It’s very exciting and the energy is fantastic. Photos and videos will follow.
Thank you again for visiting our site and for your interest in our work!
