Children’s Academy Water Collection System

Wellshire Presbyterian Church and friends fundraising efforts for the Water Collection System, Phase I of The Children’s Academy.

Daniel Fignole School Civic Empowerment Project

To have 1,000 students and teachers at Daniel Fignole School complete Haiti Partners 3-month Civic Empowerment program, which builds skills in critical thinking, dialogue, and collaboration, while also encouraging civic participation.

Christa’s Angels – Ongoing

“Christa’s Angels” was created by a courageous young woman and friend of Haiti Partners, Christa Brelsford, who lost her lower leg in the devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake. These funds provide education for children in the Darbonne area, as well as local environmental protection. For more on Christa’s powerful story, click here.

Civic Empowerment Project – Sponsored!

Thanks to a grant from USAID, 1,000 Port-au-Prince and Leogane-based educators will go through a 3-month Circles of Change training.  The training will be customized so that in addition to learning participatory teaching and leading techniques, educators will also spend time studying together the Haitian Constitution and civic responsibilities.  For more information, click here.

Sponsor a trainer for a year – $3,000 ($250 per month)

Sponsor one of our trainers for a year, and you know that you’ll be making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children, teachers and adults. You’ll make it possible for him or her to make a difference for others, and also to receive more training him- or herself.

Sponsor a classroom in a partner school – $3,600 ($300 per month)

Provide education for a classroom of about 25 students in a partner schoolClick here to learn more about partner schools.

Sponsor a partner school – $20,000 a year for 3 years

Create a partner school that is sustainable and provides a quality education for 150 students. The money will (a) improve the physical structure of the school building, (b) provide the teachers and principal with materials and extensive training, and (c) fund the creation of a social enterprise that generates revenue to pay teachers’ salaries and school expenses. Learning for change

Website that provides online and downloadable resources, facilitates exchange, and builds community among educators and students in Haiti and abroad. Your partnership will help to: (a) create a website development and ongoing maintenance; (b) gather and make accessible educational resources; and (c) train trainers and users

Mariaman Adult Literacy – $1,800/year Sponsored!

Teach 40 people to read and write and basic math skills in the community of Mariaman, Haiti.

Lagonav Church Garden Project – $1,000 Sponsored!

Plant gardens in five different churchyards that were previously unused in an area of the country that faces much hunger. The gardens are now flourishing, they were planted together by members of the church in a day, it was tied to an educational event about planting techniques.

Rice Seed and Fertilizer for Flood Recovery – $632 Sponsored!

Twelve of our trainers who were devastated by the flood each received a sack of rice seed and a sack of fertilizer in the city of Lyankou. There was also an educational day for improving agricultural techniques.

Wozo – Haiti Partners Youth Choir and Dance Troupe – $14,000/year

Helping 18 children to develop their talents and leadership potential while inspiring Haitians and Americans through justice-minded songs and performance. Stipends and expenses for choir director, dance instructor and two drummers, refreshments during practices each week, materials, uniforms, etc. Click here to learn more, watch videos and download their song sheet.

Campaign to End Child Servitude Project – $5,000

Provide churches Sunday school materials that raise awareness of the problem of child servitude in Haiti and make a theological case why this practice is inconsistent with God’s word. Printed materials and training.

Community Garden in Okay – $700 Sponsored!

Churches who are part of our network planted and cultivated a community garden. Food will go to help members of the community, and part of the harvest will be set aside so this can be an ongoing project of this network of churches.

New Roof for School/Church Devastated by Hurricane – $560 Sponsored!

The village of Bresillienne, where they’ve used our educational materials and been part of trainings, was devastated by the hurricanes in the summer of 2008. We helped to put a roof and walls back on a school/church in the community.

Goats in Gonaives – $680 Sponsored!

We bought 12 female goats (as well as vaccines, initial feed, etc) for our network of churches in this city who were especially hard hit by the hurricanes in the summer of 2008. The female goats will be passed along among the families who are most vulnerable—and then when the goat has babies, the family keeps the kid goats and passes the mother on to the next family.
