Annonciation Community School
Annonciation Community School was founded in 1996. Its vision is to permit underprivileged students from the community – especially those in child servitude (restavèk) – to learn to read and write, and to find a quality education which will allow them to develop their skills and talents, improve the condition of their lives, and participate in the development of their community and country.
Annonciation Community School’s leadership has been working with Haiti Partners’ co-founder, John Engle, for over 10 years. Currently, Haiti Partners is working together with Annonciation piloting the XO laptop project for children. One of the school’s teachers participated in a two-week training learning both how to use the XO laptops and how to teach students to use them. Thanks to this partnership, 10 students at Annonciation Community School are learning how to use computers.
Though we are very pleased with this project, the Annonciation Community School needs a great deal more support. On January 12th its two-story school building was irreparably damaged. It will need help not only to rebuild, but to cover its operating costs and to take on a variety of important projects. If you would like to support us in this partnership, please contact us at: info@haitipartners.org
